Do I need a visa to travel to Malawi?

No! Malawi’s visa requirements are minimal. Persons with a Trinidad, US, or Zimbabwe passport do not need a visa for tourism.

Which airport should I fly into?

All guests should fly into Lilongwe (LLW). We will share our recommended route and any group travel options closer to the date.

When should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 2-3 days before the wedding to settle in, adjust to the time zone, and explore Malawi.

How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

We will provide shuttles for all guests. More information to come in the month of the Chinkhoswe.

Is Malawi safe for travelers?

Yes, Malawi is generally known as “The Warm Heart of Africa”. Guests should entertain precautions as with any international travel and we will provide recommendations and safety notes closer to the date.

Where should I stay?

The Travel Guide lists all hotels we recommend that are close to other guests and to the wedding venue!

Are there budget-friendly accommodation options?

Yes! Malawi offers a range of options from luxury lodges to boutique hotels. We have partnered with the lodging listed in the Travel Guide to provide amazing discounts.

Is transportation available between my stay and wedding events?

Malawi does not have rideshare apps. Instead, we will have shuttles available for guests. Please be prompt, as the shuttles will leave on time to ensure guests can enjoy the activities.

Weather & Packing

What’s the weather like?

October is Malawi’s hot, dry season. Guests should expect warm to hot temperatures, with lots of sun and very little rain. Light breathable clothing is ideal!

Do I need malaria medication?

The CDC recommends those traveling to Malawi bring prescription medication to prevent malaria. You should speak with your doctor about the medication and bring insect repellent, or purchase some in Malawi.

What is the dress code?

October is Malawi’s hot, dry season. Guests should expect warm to hot temperatures, with lots of sun and very little rain. Light breathable clothing is ideal!

Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?

The Chinkhoswe will occur outdoors at Kumbali Gardens. Check out our home page for a preview of the venue.

Are kids allowed?

Due to our specialized itinerary, those under 18 are not permitted at this event.

Money & Connectivity

What currency does Malawi use?

The Malawian kwacha (MWK). Mastercard and Visa are the preferred credit/debit cards, but they may come with a international charge fee.

We do not recommend changing money in the airport as they will not give you the best exchange rate. Reach out to us directly and we will help set you up!

Is there good internet and cell service?

WiFi is available in most hotels but connectivity will vary. We recommend local eSIM/SIM cards are they are inexpensive and will guarantee connection across Malawi.
